Interview Isabella Gallatin The Dog Affect
Get your cup of tea or coffee, sit and relax and I hope you will enjoy this Interview with Trish from The Affect.
From reading some articles from The Dog Affect, one can clearly see Isabella’s love and passion for the work she does.
I include a short snip from Trish’s blog (with her written permission), to give you an idea of what you can expect when visiting her blog.
Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
I grew up surrounded by rescue dogs. It was always a profound moment when my mom and I would go to the shelter to adopt a dog. My heart was filled with joy but wrought with sadness. I was joyous because we were able to save a dog, but at the same time, my heart broke for the dogs we had to leave behind. I wanted to adopt them all.
When I was a teenager, I decided to volunteer at our local ASPCA. I brought the dogs out of their kennels, took them for walks, and spent time playing with them. It was such a rewarding experience to witness their bliss, their excitement as we walked and played.
I began my blog, The Dog Affect, as another avenue to give the homeless and neglected dogs a voice. My passion knows no bounds as I also guide people on their path of adopting and raising a rescue dog.
What’s Your Favorite Quote and Why?
One of my favorite quotes is from the actress Doris Day. She was a very passionate advocate for animals. “I’m going to do as much as I can for the animal world and I’ll never stop.”
For me life is about love, paying it forward, and pursuing my passions. I infuse these aspects into my blog and into my life. I will never stop being a voice for animals.
If you could shop for free at one store, which would you choose?
Rescue centers are always in need of pet food, beds, toys, blankets, and leashes. I would shop at the online store chewy.com, filling up my virtual cart and then donating the items to a rescue center.
In the future where do you hope your blog will take you?
I would love to make enough money to buy a piece of property and open up my own rescue center. I envision walking trails, a huge fenced play area with trees, and a surplus of toys. I would like to incorporate educational classes and outreach programs.
What are your 3 Favorite Movies?
I watch a lot of documentaries, so grab a tissue as I share 3 documentaries that had a profound impact on me.
600 Miles Home looks closely at why dogs are euthanized and why funding is so important to rescue centers.
Pet Fooled takes a look at the pet food industry. This film discusses the nutritional needs of our pets compared to what they are being served.
Soi Dog is a little-known film that follows a retired couple in Thailand who started the Soi Dog Foundation. Their goal is to help the wild, sick, and injured dogs on the island of Phuket.
Can you name some of your favorite bloggers and explain why they are your favorites?
One of my favorite bloggers can be found at aspiretofindasolution.net. This blog is all about starting and running a business. I adore her straight-forward approach to writing and practical advice.
Another blog I love to visit is laylaswoof.com This blog centers around domestic violence and a cute little ball of fluffy love named Layla.
What inspires you?
Being surrounded by nature is an essential part of my life. Nature quiets my soul and inspires my heart.
As per this second snip (with her written permission), you can clearly see the passion and love for her blog and the work she does.
Describe your personality as a flavor of ice cream.
I’m calm, cool, and comforting. I tend to seek peace and balance in my life. Once I’m dressed up, I can be playful, colorful, and expressive.
So, what flavor of ice cream do I associate with?
Vanilla.
What would be your ideal working environment?
I work from home so I would love to be surrounded by nature with no neighbors in sight. I rise before the sun illuminates the sky, so I would savor a cup of coffee as I sit outside and welcome the new day dawning. I can’t think of a more peaceful, inspiring place to work and live.
When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better?
If I am unable to get outside, I’ll put on nature or dog video and just sit in silence for a while.
What are your hobbies?
I love hiking, growing food from tiny seeds, and sitting by a bonfire under the stars.

We have two rescue dogs. I think the work you fo is amazing. The dogs are so lucky to have folks like you. #SeniSal
Thank you, Darlene, yes it’s amazing work done by Trish. Unfortunately, we do not have a dog or any pets at present, although had cats, dogs, and lots of other animals over the years especially when our kids were still in the house. After the sad passing of our last animal, and living in a complex housing system, we have decided not to get another pet. 🙁
