TRH Breakfast Berry Smoothie

1-1½ cups frozen black berries
1 banana
4 heaped tbsp Greek low fat yogurt
4 Medjool dates
small handful of cashew nuts
Unsweetened coconut milk
Slivered almonds for decoration

Combine all ingredients (not almonds) in a blender and blitz till silky.
Decorate if you prefer with almonds.
I normally do not add decoration, as I use whatever I would have decorated it with in my smoothie, but I added it here just for the picture.

Quick ‘n Easy Strawberry and Banana Smoothie

Delicious smoothie that is quick and easy to make. I use fresh fruit and freeze it the day before. Make sure to peel your banana prior to putting it into the freezer. This smoothie is good for breakfast or right before working out. This recipe is great to get the kids involved.

1 frozen banana
6 or 7 frozen strawberries
1 cup low fat or fat free vanilla Greek yogurt
1 tsp. pure maple syrup
1/2 cup milk, of your choice (rice, soy, almond)
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Poor into cups. You can top it with a little whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate or caramel syrup. Yummy. Enjoy.

My adapted version:
I used vanilla soy milk, and added 15-20ml chia seeds and let it sit overnight to swell out (did not use frozen fruit). I always add and prefer extra i.e, chia or flax seeds, whole psyllium husk or goji berries and even sometimes add protein powder with my smoothies. I have a smoothie for breakfast every morning at work as its so easy to prepare the previous night and then I am all set and ready to go!

1 cup low-fat greek yogurt
3 heaped tsp. smooth peanut butter
1 peeled banana
1/4 cup steelcut oats
3/4 cup ice
1-2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. honey

Mix all together in blender till smooth.
Add additional milk or soy milk as needed to get the perfect consistency

1 sliced banana (fresh or frozen)
¼ cup slivered almonds
1 heaped tablespoon cacao powder
1½ tablespoons shredded coconut (preferably unsweetened)
1 scoop vanilla Whey protein powder
¼ cup vanilla french yogurt
¾ cup vanilla almond soy milk – you can add more if you wish to have a thinner smoothie, or add any juice you like.
1-2 handful of baby spinach – again your choice of the amount of greens you need. (this time I only used 1 handful)

1 medjool date, pitted – optional if you feel you need it sweet, but I omitted the date as I used sweetened coconut.

Place in blender, blend and enjoy.

½ cup cubes cantaloupe
1 sliced banana
1 heaped teaspoon of goji berries
1 heaped teaspoon of ground chia seeds
½ cup of vanilla yogurt
1 teaspoon maple syrup (you can use more if you prefer it sweeter, but with the mango juice and vanilla yogurt, I did not need more)
1/4 cup mango juice
1 handful of spinach leaves

Add to blender, I use a bullet, and blend – then all you have to do after that – ENJOY!!
