1 kg fruit mix
100 gm cherries
100 gm nuts
21/2 cup dark brown sugar
2 cup water
1 pk dates
5 ml vanilla extract
1/2 cup brandy
1 ml salt
5 ml each mixed spice , clove n gingerpd
5 ml bicarb
4 cup flour
Boil water sugar dates fruit n butter about 10-15mins .
Add spices and bicarb and mix to foam up.
Add beaten eggs and vanilla.
Add cherries and nuts fold in .
Add sifted flour and blend well.
Pour in lined greased 23 cm tin
Bake at 140 deg 3-4 hrs
