These are easy-to-make eggless scones and a firm favorite when I was growing up in our household. A real easy peasy recipe.

What is the secret to making scones rise?

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-raising flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 60g butter
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup maas

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180C
  2. Sift flour and salt into a mixing bowl
  3. Rub in the margarine
  4. Stir in the sugar
  5. Add maas and quickly mix into a soft dough
  6. Turn out onto the floured surface
  7. Roll out thickly
  8. Cut with a scone cutter
  9. Place on a floured baking tray
  10. Bake for 12 min
  11. Viola, super soft mouth-watering scones with a nice cuppa.
