Once again, I am all in for the simple and quick. Today whilst sewing, I put on a pot of apples to stew. In our home, every night is stewed apple, either alone or with something. Here is my easy way of making a delicious pot of stewed apple.Ingredients:
3kg Golden Delicious apples (this week it was red gala)
About 4-5 cm water up from the bottom of the pot
Peel, core and cut up apples
Place into water – don’t worry that water isn’t covering – it shouldn’t be.
Cook on medium heat until the apples are nice and soft. Each variety of apples will give different time to stew.
Place fork in to test if soft – please be very careful with the steam and not to burn yourself. Don’t be in a hurry. When soft, take it off the stove and let it cool. I was once too impatient and got 2nd degree burns. Not funny and very easy.
Once cool, I use a blending stick and blend till purée .
Put in refrigerator.
Sometimes I like to add a nice sprinkle of cinnamon and/or nutmeg. Gives it a different and lovely taste.
Serve alone or with jello, custard, Malta pudding, the road and imagination is endless.
