Dough to make your own bread for subs

Homemade Subway Bread

Homemade Subway Bread, and you can use this for pizza dough and many more other uses.

Ingredients

1 packet of yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
½ cup oil
1 cup boiling water (allow water to stand for 5 min)
1 egg
5 cups flour

Method

I prepare the dough in the Kenwood machine.

In the bowl of your stand mixer, add the water, yeast, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes.

Add the flour, one cup at a time and mix with the dough hook and continue adding the flour until a soft dough is formed.

Let the dough mix for around 8 minutes total.
Once risen, punch down and roll into the desired shape.

One tip. For any dough recipe that requires milk, I always add about ½ cup extra milk (thus use 1½ cups of milk) and use less water, as more milk makes one dough much softer.
Once the dough is mixed in the machine it is slightly sticky but I like it like that because once it rises it’s all sorted and when punching down make sure your hands are oiled or floured.
