3 cups self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
I tsp cinnamon powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
200g butter / margarine (room temperature but not too soft)
1 egg, beaten with
1 cup milk and
1 tsp vanilla essence
Half block of dates (chopped into chunks)
Directions
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar and cinnamon.
Rub in butter to resemble breadcrumbs.
Mix the egg, vanilla essence and milk in a small bowl and pour a little at a time in the flour mix until the dough reaches a soft consistency.
Add the dates in.
Knead dough lightly to distribute the dates evenly.
Pat dough out and cut into desired shapes.
Place on lightly greased baking trays and bake for +- 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 deg cel, or until light brown.
