2 Onions – Chopped fine
4 Garlic Cloves – Crushed
10 Red & Green Chillies
1 tsp Sugar
Fry the above in oil.
500g Beef – Cubes or Strips
500g Mince
Fry the meat with the onion mix until brown.
Brandy & Wine to taste
1 Celery Stick- chopped fine
1 ½ tsp Salt
Pinch Cayenne Pepper
Black Pepper to taste
Add & cook open for 20 minutes
Tin Kidney Beans
Tin Baked Beans Pinch of Nutmeg
Tsp Coriander
Tsp Thyme
Tsp Oregano
Tsp Ground Cumin
Red & Green Pepper – Chopped
Tin Tomatoes
Add & cook until done
TIPS:
This dish is very versatile.
Delicious in a wrap, just add guacamole & salsa.
Or use as a filling for toasted sandwiches.

This dish’s got a bit of a history….Way back when we didn’t have DSTV or anything, there was a programme called “maak a las” on local TV. A well know athlete from the ’80’s was one of the presenters and did this on a open fire, potjie kos. I had to watch the program twice to actually write down the recipe, way before the days of recording any TV shows.
