Orla: Fancy Paper Interview
Little Things Make Us Happy
2019: Wednesday Interview Series
How do you want to improve yourself in the next year?
Health I hope. I want to be somewhat healthier. Aim not to overdo it. I would like to not sweat the small stuff.
What would be your ideal working environment?
A happy one. Preferably a space surrounded by books like a bookshop or my own office. Somewhere creativity thrives and negativity dies.
Tell me about your proudest achievement?
Outside of my two lovely daughters, I am always very proud of the fact I became a teacher. I had to overcome a lot of obstacles to do this.
What do you do in your spare time?
Spare time is a time! I read a lot. I found myself very ill at ease when I had no time to read. Very much lost. I love theatre and now aim to see a few posts or a show yearly. Time in Boora, a local parkland with our little family is very important and I cook a lot.
Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now?
I would like to still blog and maybe write outside of that too. Book reviewing would be nice. Hopefully, I will retain my blogging friendships too.
Describe your personality as a flavor of ice cream.
Interesting question! I will go with pistachio. Not regular, yet not wildly different. A bit nutty and sometimes green behind the ears. Always goes well with chocolate and is at its happiest in Italy. A people pleaser.
If you were an animal, which one would you want to be?
These days I would have to say a cat. A domestic one with a doting owner. Sleeping, prowling and constantly aware of hygge potential with snacks.
What superpower would you like and how will it benefit you or what will you do with it?
Time travel has always been my desire. I would very much like to go back to times past and glimpse grandparents and other ancestors in their context.
What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?
Being dependant on IT and Wi-Fi. Major sigh! I could be so much more prolific if technology loved me!
What is the biggest difference in your life post-blogging?
I think the feeling of accomplishment at writing a post and also the search for a potential to write everywhere is the biggest change. I love the empowerment of it.
Did you have any professional help or did you created the blog yourself?
Everything myself and very privately for a long time. I now have a large network of blogging acquaintances to go to for advice from which is invaluable.
Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
Very much my hobby. Sometimes lifeline. Always my choice.
What’s your Favorite Book?
Little Women was my favorite childhood book. It is a heartbreaking yet lovely story. It remains my One.
If you could shop for free at one store, which would you choose?
I should say something like clothes or homeware store but how could I pass a bookshop? It will have to be a decent bookstore. Like the one I saw in Toronto- The Big Big Bookshop I think it was called. A heaven! Having said that there was a gorgeous one full of corners and hidden treasures that I came across in Victoria also. That would also do!
If You Could Travel Anywhere In The World, Where Would It Be?
I want to spend time in Salzburg in Austria. Very badly! An age-old Maria Von Trapp inspired dream.

I love that Orla has a latent Maria Von Trapp fantasy! How fun. I have no doubt that a book review blog could easily fit into her blog–I hope that becomes a reality. I almost always find my favorite books from recommendations from smart people.
