Festive Hungarian tart has become a tradition in my home.
I used this recipe in the past and found that there was an aftertaste of the baking powder.
I substituted self raising flour for plain flour, a few spoonfuls of sweet mince meat for jam and omitted the baking powder. Tastes perfect.
Ingredients
125g margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1tsp vanilla essence
2tsp baking powder
2 cups all purpose flour
3- 4 Tblspn fruit mince
Method
Cream butter and sugar, add egg, vanilla essence, mix well
Add in sifted dry ingredients and make a soft dough
Flatten 3/4 of the dough into baking pan, prick lightly
Spread mincemeat over dough and grate over remaining piece of dough
Bake in a preheated oven at 180’C for about 15-20 minutes or slightly golden in colour.
