Ingredients

Units Scale

Meatball Ingredients

  • 200-300g Ground Meat (your choice)
  • 1 Teaspoon Powdered Ginger
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 2-3 Cloves Garlic (grated)
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 Spring Onion (chopped)
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Soy Sauce
  • sriracha Sauce (to your heat level)
  • 2 Tablespoons Oyster Sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger (grated)
  • 2-3 Cloves Garlic (grated)
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey / Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Flour & Water (slurry)
  • Chopped Spring Onion (garnish)
  • Sesame Seeds (garnish)

Instructions

Make the Meatballs

  1. Combine all the meatball ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Use your hands (or a spoon, if you’re not into that) to mix everything until it’s well combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into small, evenly sized balls.
  4. Brown them in a hot pan until they’re golden and cooked through, or bake them in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10 minutes.

Create the Sauce

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together all the sauce ingredients except the sesame oil, slurry, and garnishes.
  2. Add the grated ginger and garlic and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  3. Cook for about 5 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  4. Slowly stir in the flour-water slurry and keep cooking until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  5. Remove from heat, then stir in the sesame oil for a touch of nuttiness.
  6. Add the cooked meatballs to the saucepan and gently stir to coat each one evenly in the glossy sauce.
  7. Be gentle, nobody likes broken meatballs!
  8. Sprinkle your dish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds.
  9. Serve these flavor-packed meatballs with blanched broccoli, leftover rice tossed with Edamame and carrots, or even noodles if you’re feeling adventurous.
