Description

If you’re looking for a dessert that feels like a warm hug from an Italian café, this layered tiramisú might just steal your heart. Creamy mascarpone, coffee-soaked ladyfingers, and a touch of chocolate magic, it’s simple, indulgent, and irresistibly elegant.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 200 g Ladyfingers (a.k.a. Savoiardi, Sponge Fingers, or Boudoirs)
  • 250 ml cooled, strong-brewed coffee
  • 400 g mascarpone cheese
  • 350 ml heavy cream (+ 75 g English Double Cream, if you’re feeling fancy)
  • 50 g powdered sugar
  • 5 ml vanilla extract
  • 10 ml Dutch cocoa powder (for that finishing flourish)
  • Dark chocolate shavings (optional, but highly encouraged, go wild with your favorite chocolate).

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee strong enough to wake up your soul. Let it cool down, pop it in the fridge or freezer if you’re impatient.
  2. Take your ladyfingers for a quick dip in the coffee, just long enough to soak up the goodness.
  3. Line them at the bottom of your dish (an 8×8-inch glass dish or tart pan works beautifully).
  4. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream (and double cream, if using) with powdered sugar until soft peak perfection.
  5. Gently fold in the mascarpone and vanilla until the mixture is smooth and creamy; it must be fluffy.
  6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over your coffee-soaked ladyfingers.
  7. Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top, followed by the rest of the mascarpone mixture.
  8. Cover the dish with cling wrap and let it chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours (overnight if you can wait, it’s worth it).
  9. Before serving, dust generously with cocoa powder.
  10. Scatter chocolate shavings like edible confetti for that extra wow factor.
  11. Slice it up, spoon it out, and let the magic happen.
