Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups flour or self-raising flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 egg
- 180 ml buttermilk (milk or sour milk will also work)
Instructions
- Mix egg and milk together
- In a separate bowl, sift flour and baking powder
- Add salt
- Rub in butter
- Add sugar
- Mix lightly
- Gradually add the milk and egg mixture
- Mix gently, do not over mix
- Once the dough comes together
- Place on a floured surface, flatten till about 2 cm
- Cut into scone shapes
- Brush with egg
- Bake at 200C/400F for 20 minutes
