Description

Cheesy Bacon Puff Pizza Wheels deliver flaky, golden puff pastry loaded with crispy bacon and gooey cheese. Perfect for snack time, lunch, or gatherings, they are quick to bake and irresistible in every bite.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 roll puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 tbsp basil and tomato sauce (store-bought)
  • 200 g rindless streaky bacon, diced
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 125 g sliced button mushrooms
  • Enough grated cheddar cheese to cover the topping
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Sprinkle of cayenne pepper, Aromat spice, garlic and herb spice, dried sweet basil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (fan-forced if you’ve got it).
  2. To convert from a 200°C fan-forced (convection) oven to a regular (conventional) oven, you should increase the temperature by about 20°C, setting your regular oven to approximately 220°C/425°F.
  3. Roll out 1 roll of puff pastry on a floured surface, nice and as even as possible.
  4. Spread 6 tbsp basil and tomato sauce evenly over the pastry.
  5. Sprinkle 1 small, grated onion across the top.
  6. Scatter 200 g diced streaky bacon and 125 g sliced button mushrooms over the sauce.
  7. Add your cheddar cheese generously and then ½ cup grated Parmesan.
  8. Sprinkle over a pinch each of cayenne pepper, Aromat spice, garlic and herb spice, and dried sweet basil.
  9. Roll the pastry like a Swiss roll, tucking in the ends to seal.
  10. Slice into even wheels (roughly 2–3 cm thick) and place flat on a lightly floured baking tray.
  11. Bake at 200°C for 10 minutes, then reduce to 160°C and bake a further 15–20 minutes, until golden, puffed, and bubbling with cheese.
  12. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. They’re best enjoyed warm, with gooey cheese and crispy bacon in every bite!
