Description

Crispy Hong Kong Chicken with a sweet soy and honey glaze that melts in your mouth. Perfect for family dinners or a fun weeknight treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 tray of chicken pieces
  • 1/4 cup dark soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp honey
  • 3 Tbsp garlic/ginger mix
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 heaped tsp corn flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • A few dashes of white pepper
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • Sesame seeds, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Grab a large glass bowl and toss in ¼ cup dark soy sauce, 3 Tbsp brown sugar, 1 ½ Tbsp honey, 3 Tbsp garlic/ginger mix, 1 tsp sesame oil, ¼ tsp ground ginger, 1 heaped tsp corn flour, 1 tsp salt, a few dashes white pepper, and 3 Tbsp water.
  2. Stir it all together until it looks like a sticky, delicious mess.
  3. Add your 1 tray of chicken pieces and mix until every piece is coated.
  4. Cover and let it marinate for a few hours, but honestly, overnight is best if you’ve got the patience.
  5. Heat a deep pan or fryer with oil. Once hot, carefully add the chicken pieces and fry until golden, crispy, about 10–12 minutes depending on size.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Sprinkle generously with sesame seeds.
  8. Serve hot and watch them disappear fast.
