Description

Date Balls bring together buttery, sweet, and chewy all in one bite. No oven needed, just some stirring and rolling. Ready to try a homemade snack that’s both simple and delicious?

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g plain biscuits (like Arrowroot or tea biscuits)
  • 500g pitted dates
  • 225g butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Unsweetened coconut for rolling

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter, sugar, and vanilla.
  2. Add the dates. Stir and mash constantly over low heat until the mix becomes soft and jammy; this can take 20–30 minutes.
  3. Slowly stir in the beaten egg. Keep cooking and mixing for a few more minutes until it’s all blended.
  4. Crush the biscuits into small bits, use your hands, a rolling pin, or anything heavy.
  5. Pour the warm date mixture over the crushed biscuits. Mix well.
  6. Let it cool down (pop it in the fridge for about 20 minutes).
  7. Once firm, roll into small balls.
  8. Roll each ball in the coconut until coated.
