- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat the butter (½ cup) and cream cheese (8 ounces) together with a hand mixer until smooth and fluffy; about 2–3 minutes.
- Slowly add the confectioners’ sugar (4 cups), one cup at a time, beating well between each addition to keep it light.
- Mix in vanilla extract (2 teaspoons) until the frosting is silky and thick.
- If it feels too stiff, add a splash of milk. Too soft? Pop it in the fridge for 10–15 minutes.
- Spread it over your cake or cupcakes once completely cooled.
