Description

Roast a perfectly juicy turkey this Easter with simple spices and a foolproof trick. Easy, family-friendly, and delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Turkey (big enough to feed your family, 4-24 lbs depending on household)
  • 1 Onion
  • Spices as per your personal preference (we like a mix of paprika, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. Grab a baking dish and sprinkle a generous amount of your spices across the bottom. Trust me, this little layer is magic for flavor.
  3. Place your turkey breast-side down on top of the spices.
  4. Yep, it’s upside down! This keeps the white meat juicy because the fat drips into it as it cooks.
  5. Cut your onion into slices, then chop them into smaller chunks. Stuff some inside the turkey cavity.
  6. Rub the turkey all over with your spices and finish by scattering the remaining onion over the top.
  7. If your turkey has a string for lifting, it’s perfect for rotating later if needed.

Place the turkey in the oven. Roast for:

  • 4–8 lbs (breast only): 1½ to 3¼ hours
  • 8–12 lbs: 2¾ to 3 hours
  • 12–14 lbs: 3 to 3¾ hours
  • 14–18 lbs: 3¾ to 4¼ hours
  • 18–20 lbs: 4¼ to 4½ hours
  • 20–24 lbs: 4½ to 5 hours

You’ll know it’s done when the meat is soft, tender, and starts to pull away from the bone. Slice, serve, and enjoy all the compliments coming your way!
