Description

Quick skillet green beans tossed in garlic butter and herbs are ready in just 20 minutes. This Garlicky Green Beans with Herbs recipe makes weeknight dinners exciting.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 250 g Fresh green beans
  • 20 g Freshly crushed garlic
  • 40 g butter
  • 1/2 tsp Thyme
  • 1/4 tsp Rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Freshly ground Black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tsp chili garlic sauce or 2 Tbsp slivered almonds

Note:  Feel free to adjust the spices to your own preference.

Instructions

  1. Trim and steam the 250 g green beans until just tender, typically 5–7 minutes depending on your steamer.
  2. Melt 40 g butter in a saucepan and add 20 g freshly crushed garlic.
  3. Sauté 1 minute without browning.
  4. Stir in ½ tsp thyme, ¼ tsp rosemary, ½ tsp Italian seasoning, ¼ tsp salt, and ¼ tsp pepper.
  5. Add the beans and cook 1 more minute to coat.
  6. Add 1 tsp chili garlic sauce if you want heat, or plate and sprinkle 2 Tbsp slivered almonds.
  7. Serve warm and adjust salt or pepper if needed.
  8. Now, choose your adventure: Stir in 1 tsp chili garlic sauce if you like things spicy, OR plate the beans first and sprinkle with 2 Tbsp slivered almonds for a soft crunch.
  9. Taste, adjust seasoning if needed, and serve warm. Hubby votes spicy; I vote almonds — honestly, both win

Chef’s note:  Feel free to adjust the spices to your own preference.
