Description

Ready to crush boring cookies? These Best Ever Ginger Snaps bring the crunch and spice you’ve been missing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp butter or margarine (135mL)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp syrup

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, allspice, and ginger in a bowl.
  2. Melt the butter and stir it into the dry mix. The texture should be crumbly.
  3. Beat the egg with the syrup, then pour that into the bowl and mix.
  4. It’ll look like it won’t come together, but keep mixing. It’ll hold when you shape the dough.
  5. Press dough into a tablespoon (15ml) to shape, then pop them out onto a baking tray.
  6. Flatten them slightly if you like thinner cookies.
  7. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for about 14 minutes.
  8. The bottoms should just start to turn golden.
  9. Let them cool on a rack; this is where the magic happens, and they crisp up perfectly.
