- 4 cups cake flour
- 1 packet yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup oil
- ± 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
- ± 2 tablespoons oil (extra, for coating)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Topping: sesame, poppy, aniseed, or sunflower seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, and lukewarm water.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Pat the dough with the extra oil.
- Cover and let rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 3 pieces, braid them, and place them into a greased loaf tin.
- Let it rise again for 10 minutes.
- Brush the top with egg wash and sprinkle with seeds of your choice.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before slicing.
