Need a quick fix to satisfy your sweet tooth? Homemade Mini Sour Milk Doughnuts to the rescue. No yeast and time to rise and punch down, only mix, create the shape you love and bake and you can enjoy it with a cuppa tea or coffee when your friends arrive.

Instructions

Syrup Method

  1. Boil together until the sugar has dissolved and the syrup is a bit thick
  2. Remove from stove
  3. Allow cooling

Doughnut mixture Method

  1. Beat the eggs in a large bowl, until light and frothy
  2. Add sour milk, butter, and sugar, and beat well
  3. Sift in flour and baking powder
  4. Add salt, bicarbonate of soda, and the nutmeg
  5. Mix and form into a nice soft dough
  6. Break into 3 pieces
  7. Roll out into 1cm thickness and form your donut
  8. Fry in hot oil on medium heat, until it’s a nice golden brown color
  9. Remove from oil, set aside
  10. Then dip in the cooled syrup
  11. Roll and cover in the coconut
  12. Enjoy
