Homemade Sweet and Regular Potato Tater Tots with a small tub of tomato sauce in the middle

Homemade Tater Tots. I made a batch using sweet potato and the other is regular potato, served with chipotle mayo and tomato sauce.


  • 34 Potatoes / Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Cornflour
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Mixed Herbs
  • Salt & Pepper to taste


Wash the potatoes and place in a pot, cover with cold water and boil for about 5-8 minutes (it should have some resistance when pierced).

Drain the potatoes and allow them to cool.

Once cool to the touch, peel then grate the potatoes into a large bowl.

Add in the remaining ingredients and mix gently.

Flour a work surface then form the potato mixture into a log shape.

Cut off small pieces and shape them into tots.

Lay tots in a single layer on a baking sheet then place in the freezer till firm.

To oven bake, roll tots in a few tablespoons of oil then lay flat on a baking sheet and bake till golden or fry in oil till browned.
