Description

Scone with Surprise Filling makes snack time anything but ordinary.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the scone batter:

For the filling (optional):

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 50 ml bacon bits (or any meat of choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a muffin tin well.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, milk, cheeses, baking powder, mustard powder, cayenne, and salt. Let the batter rest 5 minutes until slightly foamy.

For a hidden filling:

  • Fill each muffin well halfway, add 1 tsp filling, then cover with another teaspoon of batter.
  • Or bake plain scones, scoop out the center after baking, add filling, and return to oven for 2–3 minutes.
  • Or skip the filling and bake them plain.

Bake for 10–15 minutes, until golden. Test with a skewer or knitting needle—if it comes out clean, they’re ready.

For the filling:

  1. Whisk eggs with pepper. Stir in bacon or the meat of choice.
  2. Microwave for 1 minute, stirring halfway. It should be soft but not overcooked.

Use as your surprise filling before or after baking.
