Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups warm water (not hot!)
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp active dry yeast
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (extra for mixing)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
Instructions
- In a big mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 2 cups warm water, 4 tbsp sugar, ¼ tsp salt, and 2 tbsp yeast. Stir it all up until smooth.
- Let it sit for about 15 minutes; you’ll see bubbles forming, and that’s exactly what you want.
- After it’s foamy, add the rest of the 3 cups flour, ½ cup vegetable oil, and 1 tsp baking powder.
- Mix well until the dough comes together.
- The dough should feel soft and slightly sticky, but not too wet if it’s too sticky, just dust in a little more flour.
- Cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm spot for 30–40 minutes, or until it’s about doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch the dough down gently and shape it however you like, bread rolls, a loaf, or even flat naan-style rounds.
- Place your shaped dough onto a greased or parchment-lined baking tray.
- Let it rest another 10 minutes while you preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
- Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and your kitchen smells amazing.
- Cool slightly before serving (if you can wait).
- It’s soft, fluffy, and so easy to make again and again.
