Instructions

  1. In a big mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 2 cups warm water, 4 tbsp sugar, ¼ tsp salt, and 2 tbsp yeast. Stir it all up until smooth.
  2. Let it sit for about 15 minutes; you’ll see bubbles forming, and that’s exactly what you want.
  3. After it’s foamy, add the rest of the 3 cups flour, ½ cup vegetable oil, and 1 tsp baking powder.
  4. Mix well until the dough comes together.
  5. The dough should feel soft and slightly sticky, but not too wet if it’s too sticky, just dust in a little more flour.
  6. Cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm spot for 30–40 minutes, or until it’s about doubled in size.
  7. Once risen, punch the dough down gently and shape it however you like, bread rolls, a loaf, or even flat naan-style rounds.
  8. Place your shaped dough onto a greased or parchment-lined baking tray.
  9. Let it rest another 10 minutes while you preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
  10. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and your kitchen smells amazing.
  11. Cool slightly before serving (if you can wait).
  12. It’s soft, fluffy, and so easy to make again and again.
