Description
A Cape Malay Koeksisters (also pronounced Koesisters) are sticky, syrupy sweet treats. A South-African delicacy not to be missed.
Ingredients

- 2 cups self raising flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 8 tablespoons melted butter
- Enough sour milk/maas to make a soft dough
- I added a pinch of salt
Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl
- Add butter and maas
- Make into a soft dough
- Break off the dough into little balls
- Roll into a thin roll
- Cut in half and twist
- Secure ends
- Deep fry till golden brown
- Dip in warm syrup, roll in coconut
Syrup
Boil all the ingredients together until it thickens.
