Ingredients
Bollas
- 1 cup self-raising flour (If you don’t have self-raising flour, use 1 cup cake flour and 1 tsp. baking powder)
- 1 banana mashed sprinkled with sugar and microwave for a minute to soften
- 1 cup buttermilk or you can also use 1 cup milk + 1tsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. cinnamon (fine)
- 1 egg
- 80ml sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla essence
Syrup
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 stick of cinnamon
Instructions
- Mix the egg and sugar together.
- Add mashed banana and then the dry ingredients.
- Lastly add milk and mix well.
- Deep fry in oil.
Syrup
- Boil the syrup ingredients until you have a syrup.
This is only half a recipe, but feel free to double up.
When you use buttermilk and cake flour you may wish to add a little more flour to the batter. You will be pleasantly surprised by the wonderful flavor. Yes, it’s different from the original flavor but a great change.
