- 2 cups Self-Raising flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk (approx.)
- Assorted food colouring
- Butter or oil for greasing the waffle iron
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups Self-Raising flour and 1/3 cup sugar.
- Add 1 beaten egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract, then pour in about 1 cup milk, whisking until you get a smooth, pourable batter.
- Divide the batter evenly into separate bowls, depending on how many colours you want.
- Add a few drops of food colouring to each bowl and gently mix until the colours are vibrant.
- Preheat your waffle iron as per directions and lightly grease it with butter or oil so nothing sticks.
- Spoon small amounts of each coloured batter into the waffle iron.
- Close the lid and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the waffles are cooked through and lightly crisp on the outside.
- Carefully remove and let them sit for a minute before serving.
- Serve warm with syrup, fruit, or even a little whipped cream if youβre feeling extra.
