- 1/2 Cup Yellow Cornmeal/ Miele Meal also known as mealie meal or maize meal
- 1/2 Cup Flour
- 1 Tsp Baking Powder
- 1 Egg (beaten)
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 Tbsp Sugar (optional)
- 1 Tsp Black Pepper
- 1 Cup Milk
- Vienna / Frankfurter sausages
- Oil
- Skewer Sticks
Instructions
- * Add turmeric powder to the white mielie meal for a yellow batter * (You decide on how much depending on how yellow you want to make it)
- Β In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients and add in the beaten egg.
- Stir in the milk to make a thick smooth batter. Insert the skewers into the hotdogs.
- Pour the batter into a glass/jug, as you will find it easier to dip this way.
- Dip the skewers into the batter and fry in deep oil till golden brown.
- Drain, serve with sauce of your choice, and enjoy!!
