Description

Easy homemade cheese twist straws made with Parmesan, paprika, and simple pantry ingredients; light, crispy, and perfect for snacks, parties, or dipping.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 200 g self raising flour
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil or any dried herbs you like
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water, added slowly

Instructions

  1. Stir together 200 g self-raising flour, 2 teaspoons paprika, 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1 cup grated Parmesan, and 1 teaspoon salt.
  2. Rub in 125 g butter with your fingers until the mixture looks like soft, crumbly dough.
  3. Add the whole egg and 1 egg yolk and mix until the dough starts to come together.
  4. Pour in the ½ cup of water, a little at a time, and knead just until you have a smooth dough that is soft but not sticky.
  5. Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes.
  6. Roll the dough out, slice it into long, thin strips, twist each strip, and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake in a preheated 180°C/350oF oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the twists look lightly golden and crisp.
  8. Let them cool and enjoy.
