- 500g lamb or mutton chops
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garlic and ginger paste
- 2 tsp masala
- 2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin (jeera) powder
- 1/4 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- Fresh coriander (Dhania), for garnish
Instructions
- Drop the tomatoes in boiling water for a minute or two, until the skin starts to split.
- Remove and peel off the skin. Chop them roughly.
- Blend the chopped tomatoes with the masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander powder, and 1 cup of water until smooth. Set aside.
- Heat a bit of oil in a pot.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger.
- Cook until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the chopped green pepper and cook for about 15 minutes, until softened.
- Pour in your blended tomato and spice mixture.
- Stir well, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 5 minutes so the flavors come together.
- Place the chops into the pot. Stir to coat them in the sauce.
- Cover and cook for about 30 minutes, or until the meat is tender.
- Add a splash of water if the pot starts to dry out.
- Once the meat is soft and saucy, garnish with fresh chopped coriander. Serve hot with fluffy rice or warm roti.
