Ingredients
Cake Batter
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- Pinch salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 eggs
Icing
- 2 cups icing sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 150 g butter
- 1/4 cup cream
ALTERNATIVE: Ganache Topping
- 1/2 cup fresh cream
- 2 slabs plain chocolate, broken into pieces.
Instructions
Batter Method:
Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
In a large bowl, sift flour and baking powder, cocoa powder.
Add the rest of the dry ingredients.
Then, add eggs, vanilla, oil, and milk.
Mix with an electric beater for 1 minute.
Then add water, mix well.
Pour the batter into 2 greased baking tins.
Bake for 25 to 30 mins.
Icing:
Mix well together with an electric beater!
Ganache Topping:
Heat cream until it reaches a simmer, do not boil.
Pour over broken chocolate pieces.
Mix well until it's well blended.
Once it's cooled, pour over the cooled cake gently.
