Simple Homemade Dried Fruit Bars

Description

Looking for a snack that is both delicious and easy to make? These dried fruit bars mix sweet prunes, apricots, and raisins with crunchy pecans for a treat you can enjoy anytime. They come together quickly with simple ingredients and bake up soft and chewy. Perfect for a quick energy boost or to pack in your lunch


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cup chopped prunes
  • 3/4 cup chopped dried apricots
  • 1/2 cup dark raisins
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Put all the chopped dried fruits in another bowl.
  3. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the flour mixture over the fruit and toss to coat.
  4. Beat the margarine, brown sugar, and egg with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes until creamy.
  5. Add the corn syrup and mix well.
  6. Stir in the rest of the dry ingredients, then fold in the fruit and pecans.
  7. Pour the batter into a lightly greased 13″ x 9″ pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for ± 30 minutes, or until golden.
