Description

Make mornings easier with quick French Toast Roll-ups. Customize with your favorite fillings for a tasty start.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fresh sliced bread
  • Bacon or sausage (one piece per slice)
  • 1 egg for every 4 slices of bread
  • About 1/4 cup milk per egg

Instructions

  1. Flatten each slice of bread using a rolling pin.
  2. You can remove the crusts if you want, but it works fine with them on.
  3. If the bread isn’t sticky, sprinkle a little water on it so it will stick when you roll it up.
  4. Place one piece of bacon or sausage on each slice. You can use other fillings too if you like.
  5. Beat the eggs and milk together well.
  6. Roll up the bread tightly around the filling.
  7. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, making sure it soaks in like regular French toast.
  8. Cook the roll-ups in a pan with butter, turning until all sides are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Serve them plain, so kids can eat with their hands or add chutney, tomato jam, sour cream, or fresh avocado. You can mix it up any way you like!
