Description

If you’re looking for an easy appetizer that looks impressive without much effort, this Melty Baked Brie Parcel is a winner. Creamy Brie, crispy puff pastry, sweet chili sauce and smoky bacon come together into one irresistible centrepiece that’s always a hit.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 225 g pre-rolled butter puff pastry sheet, thawed
  • 340 g - 1 mini Brie cheese roll
  • 37.5 - 50 ml - 3 to 4 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 62.5 ml - 1/4 cup bacon bits
  • 25 ml - 2 tbsp freshly shredded Parmesan cheese, plus extra for topping
  • 1 egg, whisked

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350⁰F (180⁰C) and line a baking tray with the parchment paper that comes wrapped around the puff pastry.
  2. Gently unfold the 1 x 225 g pre-rolled butter puff pastry sheet, leaving it on the parchment paper to make moving it much easier later.
  3. Place the 1 x 340 g mini Brie cheese roll right in the centre of the pastry.
  4. Spoon 3 to 4 tbsp sweet chili sauce evenly over the top of the Brie, spreading it almost to the edges but leaving a small border so it doesn’t run out while baking.
  5. Sprinkle 1/4 cup bacon bits (or more if you like) generously over the sweet chili sauce.
  6. Add 2 tbsp freshly shredded Parmesan cheese over the bacon bits for another layer of flavour.
  7. Fold each corner of the pastry over the Brie, gently pressing the seams together to completely seal the cheese inside. If needed, pinch any openings closed so the melted cheese stays inside the parcel.
  8. Brush the entire pastry with the 1 whisked egg until evenly coated.
  9. Sprinkle a few extra bacon bits and a little extra freshly shredded Parmesan cheese over the top for a beautiful finish.
  10. Transfer the parchment paper and pastry parcel onto the prepared baking tray.
  11. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed, crisp, and a deep golden brown.
  12. Let the parcel rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing. This gives the Brie a chance to settle slightly instead of flowing straight out.
  13. Serve warm with crackers, toasted baguette slices, apple slices or fresh grapes, and enjoy every gooey bite.
