Description

Start your morning with a bright, refreshing drink that’s quick to put together the night before. It’s lightly sweet, gently spiced, and easy to sip throughout the day whenever you need a little pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups - 500 ml boiled water, cooled slightly
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 lemon, cut into slices or small pieces
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper or paprika

Instructions

  1. Boil 500 ml water and allow it to cool for a few minutes. You want it warm, not piping hot, so the 1/2 tsp honey keeps its flavour.
  2. Pour the warm water into a clean glass jar or jug.
  3. Stir in the juice of 1 lemon, then add the 1 lemon cut into slices or small pieces.
  4. Add 1/2 tsp honey, 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder, and 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper or paprika.
  5. Stir everything well. The cinnamon may float a little, which is completely normal, so just give it another stir before serving.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavours to blend.
  7. Shake or stir before pouring a glass, then enjoy it throughout the day. If you prefer, strain out the lemon pieces before drinking.
