Wake Up Your Day with this Simple Morning Lemon Spice Reset
Refresh your day with this Morning Lemon Spice Reset made with fresh lemon, honey, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. Prepare it the night before for an easy, flavourful drink that’s ready whenever you are.
Additional Information
- Can this be frozen? It’s not recommended. Fresh lemon juice loses some of its bright flavour after freezing, and the texture isn’t quite the same once thawed.
- How long can it be stored and how? Store the drink in a covered glass container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For the freshest flavour, it’s best enjoyed within 24 hours.
- Can I drink it warm? Yes. You can enjoy it slightly warm immediately after mixing, although chilling it overnight gives the flavours more time to develop.
- Can I make a larger batch? Absolutely. Simply double or triple all the ingredients while keeping the same ratios.
- Do I need to strain it? No. It’s completely optional. Some people enjoy the infused lemon slices, while others prefer a clear drink.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Replace honey with maple syrup or omit it completely if you prefer an unsweetened drink.
- Use paprika if you’d like a milder spice than cayenne pepper.
- Add a few slices of fresh ginger for an extra layer of flavour.
- A pinch of ground turmeric pairs nicely with the cinnamon if you enjoy warm spices.

Why You Will Love and Enjoy This Morning Lemon Spice Reset
- Fresh lemon, warm cinnamon, and a touch of honey create a bright, balanced flavour.
- It’s easy to prepare the night before, making busy mornings a little simpler.
- You can enjoy it chilled throughout the day and adjust the spice level to suit your taste.

Description
Start your morning with a bright, refreshing drink that’s quick to put together the night before. It’s lightly sweet, gently spiced, and easy to sip throughout the day whenever you need a little pick-me-up.
Ingredients
- 2 cups – 500 ml boiled water, cooled slightly
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 lemon, cut into slices or small pieces
- 1/2 tsp honey
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper or paprika
Instructions
- Boil 500 ml water and allow it to cool for a few minutes. You want it warm, not piping hot, so the 1/2 tsp honey keeps its flavour.
- Pour the warm water into a clean glass jar or jug.
- Stir in the juice of 1 lemon, then add the 1 lemon cut into slices or small pieces.
- Add 1/2 tsp honey, 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder, and 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper or paprika.
- Stir everything well. The cinnamon may float a little, which is completely normal, so just give it another stir before serving.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavours to blend.
- Shake or stir before pouring a glass, then enjoy it throughout the day. If you prefer, strain out the lemon pieces before drinking.

Is the honey necessary? Curious?
I am having my fist batch tomorrow. If you do not mind the spicyness, you can try it without the honey.
I have done some research re the honey, and as far as I can see it has a lot of healthy benefits, so I will use it.
How does it taste?
I made my first batch tonight and will have it tomorrow. I made one lire, and used only a pinch of paprika and added 1 peach cut in small cubes. Wanted to add crushed ginger but had none. Will let you know tomorrow. Preshana said her second batch she also used less spicyness and added a fruit to counteract the spicy taste.
Thanks!
😉
As promised, an update. I made a double batch last night, (1 litre) and had it on my desk at work today and sipped on it through the morning. Before I knew I drank a full 1 litre. It’s truly delicious with the added fruit and less spicyness. I made a second batch (again 1 litre) for tomorrow and this time I only used watermelon cubes in stead of a peach. I will soon get some fresh ginger and also add that in julienne strips. I just <3 it. Hope you will also enjoy it
Thanks so much for the update.
You’re welcome. Feel free to try it. I can recommend it.
