Instructions
- Mix 250 g flour, 200 g cold butter, and a pinch of salt in a food processor.
- Add just enough cold water to form a dough that pulls away from the bowl.
- If itβs too sticky, add more flour.
- Knead the dough until smooth, then wrap it in cling film and chill until ready to use.
Savory Beef and Veggie Filling with a Hint of Sweet Caramel
- Dice steak into small pieces.
- Chop celery, carrot, and onion finely.
- Cook the meat and veggies together with salt, pepper, and beef stock powder. Let it simmer.
- Add water mixed with food caramel (like Maggi brand) for extra color and richness.
- Cook until the meat is tender enough to break apart easily.
- Thicken the mixture with a flour-water paste and a little more food caramel.
- Let the filling cool completely before using.
Assembling and Baking the Pepper Steak Pie
- Spray your pie dish and press the pastry into it.
- Let it rest to avoid shrinking.
- Fill with the cooled meat mixture.
- Add a slice of tomato and sprinkle with black pepper on top.
- Cover with puff pastry, seal the edges with water, and trim the excess dough.
- Cut a small slit on top for steam to escape.
- Brush with egg wash and sprinkle more pepper.
- Bake at 200Β°C for 25β30 minutes until golden brown.
Optional: Add Cheese and Tomato Inside for Extra Flavor
For a richer pie, add cheese and a tomato slice inside the filling before sealing the top pastry.
