Description

Soft, buttery, Fluffy Naan Rolls with sesame seeds are perfect for any meal. Warm rolls straight from the oven will fill your kitchen with an irresistible aroma.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 10 grams instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon fennel powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 80 grams melted butter
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, toss together 4 ½ cups cake flour, 10 grams instant yeast, 2 tablespoons caster sugar, 2 teaspoons salt, and 1 teaspoon fennel powder.
  2. Add in 2 eggs, 80 grams of melted butter, and 1 cup lukewarm milk.
  3. Mix until a soft dough forms. Don’t stress if it’s a bit sticky; it’s all good and normal.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Grease a large bowl, pop your dough in, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise for 2 hours. You’ll notice it almost doubles in size.
  6. Once risen, gently punch down the dough and divide it into small balls.
  7. Arrange them neatly in a round, greased baking pan.
  8. Cover again and let them rise for 40 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
  10. Beat 1 egg and brush it over the top of each roll.
  11. Sprinkle generously with sesame seeds or poppy seeds.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  13. Let them cool slightly, then enjoy the fluffy, buttery goodness!
