- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (dark)
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk or maas
- 1 cup oil
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 tsp coffee
Chocolate Fudge Icing
- 125 grams butter
- 200 grams of baking chocolate
- 3 cups icing sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 250 ml sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Instructions
Cake
- In a bowl sift dry ingredients besides the baking powder.
- Make a well and add eggs, essence, oil, and buttermilk, and mix with a whisk or electric beater. add coffee and mix.
- Lastly add baking powder and mix.
- Pour into a lined pan and bake at 180C degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Icing
- In a pan melt butter and chocolate on low heat.
- Cool completely.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and beat well.
