Description

Savory Chutney Bread brings big flavor without the fuss. One bowl, no waiting, all flavor, exactly how homemade bread should be.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tbsp Mrs. Ball's Original Chutney
  • 2/3 cup white wine (plus a glass for the cook!)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt (skip or reduce if your deli meat is salty)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mild cheddar (mix white and yellow if you like)
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  • 1/3 cup cooked bacon bits
  • 9 oz deli corned beef, cubed
  • 1 1/2 cups pitted olives (black or mix of black and green), chopped
  • 1 tsp dried salad herb mix (or parsley if you’ve got it)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 360°F (180°C).
  2. Grease a loaf pan.
  3. In a big bowl, whisk together the wine, olive oil, eggs, and salt.
  4. Add flour and baking powder on top, don’t mix just yet.
  5. Toss in the chopped onions, bacon, olives, herbs, and corned beef.
  6. Add the chutney and cheese. Now mix everything together until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into your loaf pan. Sprinkle a little extra herb mix on top.
  8. Bake for about 1 hour, or until golden and set in the middle.

Fun Tip:

Taste the wine while cooking, totally optional, but highly recommended!

And this bread? It’s soft, full of flavor, and amazing with coffee or as a snack on its own.
