Description

Cozy sweet potato mash with cinnamon and orange. Perfectly chunky, naturally sweet, and easy to make.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 big sweet potatoes, peeled
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 peeled orange
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup water
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Peel your 3 big sweet potatoes and slice them into thin rings.
  2. Don’t worry if they’re uneven!
  3. Grab a medium to large pot and add the sweet potatoes, 2 tablespoons of butter, juice of 1 orange, the peeled orange itself, 3 cinnamon sticks, ½ cup sugar, a pinch of salt, and 1 cup of water.
  4. Bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  5. Let it cook until the sweet potatoes are soft enough to mash, usually about 25–30 minutes.
  6. Stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
  7. Once the sweet potatoes are cooked through, use a fork to mash them into chunky pieces. Don’t overdo it; you need some texture.
  8. Taste and tweak with a little extra sugar or salt if needed.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy the cozy, citrusy sweetness.
