Description

Soft and sweet, Viennese Biscuits Melting Moments are easy to make and fun to decorate. Try these biscuits and impress your family with buttery goodness.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 250 grams soft-to-the-touch butter
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 3/4 cups cake flour
  • 3 heaped tablespoons Cornflour
  • Optional toppings: Smarties, chopped nuts, or melted chocolate for dipping.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream 250 grams of soft-to-the-touch butter with a whisk for about a minute until smooth.
  3. Add ½ cup cooking oil, 1 teaspoon vanilla essence, and 1 cup icing sugar, then whisk together for 2 minutes until fluffy.
  4. Gradually fold in 2¾ cups of cake flour and 3 heaped tablespoons Cornflour.
  5. Whisk for about a minute until combined. The dough should be soft but hold its shape.
  6. Spoon your dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star nozzle.
  7. Pipe your favorite shapes directly onto the lined tray.
  8. Chill the piped biscuits in the fridge for 5–10 minutes before baking.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden.
  10. Let them cool on the tray for a few minutes.
  11. Optionally, dip in melted chocolate or sprinkle toppings like Smarties or nuts before baking.
  12. Tip: If your biscuits spread too much, add 2 extra tablespoons of flour or Cornflour to the dough next time.
