Captain Picard sings “Make it So”

(Let it Snow)

“Seize the time… Live now! Make now always the most precious time. Now will never come again.”
― Jean-Luc Picard

As you may have guessed, YES, I am a Star-Trek fan, who would have thunk?

I am for sure not a TV addict, by far not so, but this is one show that I do love and watch occasionally, time permitting, and when I am not behind the computer screen busy catching up on reading the awesome posts you leave at the weekly #SeniSal parties.

Captain Picard Singing “Make It So” To The Tune Of “Let It Snow” Is The Reason For The Season

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!“, also known as “Let It Snow“, is a song written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945. It was written in Hollywood, California during a heatwave as Cahn and Styne imagined cooler conditions.

Despite the lyrics making no mention of any holiday, the song has come to be regarded as a Christmas song in North America due to its winter theme, being played on radio stations during the Christmas and holiday season and having often been covered by various artists on Christmas-themed albums. In the Southern Hemisphere, however, it can be played during the winter months of June, July, and August; and in New Zealand, some play it at Matariki.

“Let It Snow” Vaughn Monroe (1945-6) The original song

Lyrics

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
Since we’ve no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

It doesn’t show signs of stoppin’
And I’ve brought some corn for poppin’
The lights are turned down low
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I’ll hate goin’ out in the storm
But if you’ll really hold me tight
All the way home I’ll be warm

The fire is slowly dyin’
And, my dear, we’re still goodbyin’
As long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

He doesn’t care if it’s ten below
He’s just sittin’ by the fire’s cozy glow
He don’t care about the cold and the winds that blow
He just says, “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow” (let it snow)
“Ooh wee, ” goes the storm
Why should he worry when he’s nice and warm?
His gal by his side and the lights turned low
He just says, “let it snow, let it snow” (I don’t care)

The weather outside is frightful
But that fire is, mmm, delightful
Since we’ve no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

It doesn’t show signs of stoppin’
And I’ve brought lots of corn for poppin’
The lights are way down low
So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow (let it snow)

When we finally say goodnight
How I’ll hate goin’ out in the storm
But if you’ll only hold me tight
All the way home I’ll be warm

The fire is slowly dyin’
And, my dear, we’re still goodbyin’
As long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
