Description

Now I remember why I bought sumac! It’s for the middle eastern flavor to the ordinary meatballs.

(Afrikaans: Frikkadel)

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 kg minced lamb/beef
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic/ginger garlic minced
  • 1 tsp sumac
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • Handful chopped coriander
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Process the onion and green pepper.
  2. Add to the mince with the remaining ingredients.
  3. Mix until combined but do not over mix.
  4. Set aside for an hour.
  5. Shape into meatballs.
  6. Preheat the air fryer for 10 minutes.
  7. Set your Air fryer at 180C / 350F for 10 minutes.
  8. You can also bake at 80C / 350F for 25 minutes – or shallow fry.
