Cheese and Biltong Scone

We or I love a freshly baked scone, piping hot with a dollop of butter and a cuppa coffee. Please try this one: Cheese and Biltong Scones

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup almond milk (regular milk will also work)
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 150g sliced and then chopped into smaller pieces of biltong (Jerky)

Method:

  1. Mix the first 3 ingredients listed.
  2. Add milk, oil, and egg together, and mix into the dry mixture.
  3. Lastly, add the cheese and biltong/jerky into the mixture.
  4. The dough is firm enough to work by hand.
  5. Preheat oven to 200C/400F.
  6. I used a regular size 12 well muffin pan.
  7. Oil your hands slightly, then form 12 equal size balls and place in a well-greased muffin pan and bake for ±20 minutes until lightly golden brown on top or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
  8. Serve it warm out of the oven with fresh butter and a cup of steaming coffee. <3
