Delicious, tasty, ‘addictive’ as you will not stop at only one, so rather make a double batch of these decadent Chocolate Pralines
Are pralines and pecans the same thing?
No, pecans are actually a nut, and pralines are made out of pecans and caramelized sugar. Pralines can also be made out of almonds or other nuts and caramelized sugar.
A praline is a form of confection containing, at minimum, culinary nuts – usually almonds, pecans, and hazelnuts – and sugar. The cream is a common third ingredient
This is the only chocolate my husband will eat. I don’t make them often but when I do he’s a happy guy.
(Pronounced praw-leens) it is a very popular US southern candy. Mainly pralines are a sweet sugary candy but these are the chocolate variety. Easy to make and very tasty.
Ingredients:
- 1 stick of butter (8 tablespoons)
- 1 pound of light brown sugar
- 1 small can of evaporated milk
- 2 ½ cups miniature marshmallows
- Pinch of salt
- 6 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 ½ cup whole pecans
Method:
- You will need an 8-cup glass, microwave-safe, and measuring cup.
- You can use a glass bowl but the handle on the measuring cup makes it a lot easier because you will be taking it out of the microwave a few times to stir.
- Combine the butter, brown sugar, salt, evaporated milk, and marshmallows in the measuring cup.
- Microwave for 11 minutes, stirring every three minutes.
- Remove from the microwave and add chocolate chips.
- Stir till chips are melted.
- Add vanilla and pecans.
- Stir well.
- Let the mixture sit at room temperature stirring every few minutes.
- When the mixture begins to thicken around the edge stir and drop by tablespoon onto parchment paper.
- I use nonstick aluminum foil but may not be available.
