Description

These Crispy Savory Cheddar Chaffles are my go-to when I want something warm, cheesy, and ridiculously easy. They’re crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and honestly difficult to stop snacking on straight off the counter.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp almond flour (optional, but adds structure)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder (optional, makes them lighter)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Everything Bagel seasoning
  • Oil spray, for greasing your chaffle machine

Instructions

  1. Preheat your mini chaffle maker and lightly grease it with oil spray so nothing sticks later.
  2. In a bowl, whisk 2 large eggs until the yolks and whites are fully blended.
  3. Add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 2 tbsp almond flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, and 1/2 tsp Everything Bagel seasoning.
  4. Stir everything until well combined, then let the batter rest for 2 to 3 minutes, so the almond flour can absorb some moisture. This helps prevent soggy chaffles.
  5. Spoon 1 heaping tbsp batter into the center of the hot chaffle maker. Don’t spread it, it’ll do that on its own.
  6. Close the lid and cook for about 2 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Timing can vary slightly depending on your machine.
  7. Carefully remove and place on a wire rack, so the steam doesn’t soften them.
  8. Repeat until all the batter is used.

Kitchen note:

  1. I usually triple this recipe, using 6 eggs to make 18 chaffles.
  2. Once cooled, I store them in the fridge or freezer and pop them straight into the toaster.
  3. My husband swore he disliked almond flour, yet here we are, he keeps asking for more.

  2. Bring on the cheese! 🙂 Always love your chaffle recipes, I really have no excuse as I do have a waffle maker! I need to get on these as they are a fabulous snack! Sim #SSPS

  3. Oh my! I think I’ve just found a favourite new snack. These look so good, and I love anything cheesy! Thanks so much for sharing with #MMBC. Hope to see you again, Esme. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Jane. Hope you will try and enjoy these. I am biased, but they are delicious and sure I will be back there again

    1. Thank you for pinning and hope the grands will enjoy them. I surely love them and make them on repeat, freeze and toast as neede.

  4. When I read the title, I was perplexed – chaffles? In the post you mentioned your little chaffle maker and I thought – I missed a new piece of equipment too? Then I see waffles and a little waffle maker! You are so creative! I love the idea of little chaffles. I think I could eat a bunch. Pinned.

    1. Sorry for the confusion Carol. Chaffles are low-carb, keto-friendly, 2-ingredient “cheese waffles” made from eggs and shredded cheese, whereas traditional waffles are flour-based, high-carb breakfast items. I did mention: 2 tbsp almond flour (optional, but adds structure).
In fact, I just toasted some that I had in the freezer and they are awesome. Now to make some more. You can make them in the chaffle or waffle machine.
