Want crispy, golden deep-fried fish? Not too greasy, but just right? This is the easiest recipe to achieve this!
Fish, Chicken or Onion Batter
Preparation time: 15 minutes or less
Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup water OR Soda water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Method
Mix flour, baking powder and salt together.
Add water slowly and beat until batter is smooth.
Dip fish, chicken or onion into batter, allow excess to drip off.
Deep fry until golden brown.
Recipe notes
You can add freshly cracked black pepper or lemon pepper to the dry ingredients for an extra kick.
I used it on some onion rings, added some garlic salt and some onion salt – stayed crispy until the last bite.
I serve the fish with tartare sauce and chicken with sweet chilli sauce with oven baked wedges.
