Ingredients
3 tablespoons soft butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 cup cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
a pinch of salt
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
4 or 5 apples peeled & sliced and
simmered in water & 1 teaspoon cinnamon for 5 mins
I used 1 x 765 g tin unsweetened pie apples
Sprinkle of cinnamon
Syrup:
4 tbsp sugar
1 cup cream
1 tsp caramel essence
Method:
In a saucepan stir the above together until sugar dissolves.
Bring to slow boil for 7 mins.
When pie is removed from oven pour syrup over the pie.
Beat the butter and sugar until soft and fluffy.
Add the eggs, mixing in one by one.
Then sift in the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt.
Mix until blended then mix in the milk and vanilla essence.
Butter a medium size oven proof glass dish and pour mixture into the dish.
Pack the apples on top of the mixture and bake at 180 ° C for about 35 – 40 mins.
Sprinkle with cinnamon.
Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

This looks amazing but I’m a little confused. Do I put all ingredients together or just the syrup ingredients to boil?
Only boul the syrup ingredients and once pie done pour syrup over. Yum yum.
